Nursery
Parents take the lead in the care of babies and walkers.
At Hillside we believe that God expects parents to actively guide the spiritual development of their kids. We talk about this in terms of the three P's...
Position - God has placed parents in the primary position to teach their children about God. (Deuteronomy 11:19)
Power - Because the parent/child relationship is unique, no one has more power to influence a child spiritually than the parents.
Privilege - The greatest privilege of parents is to be involved in the spiritual growth of their children.
THE BABIES
This is where our infants are loved, rocked, and entertained. We have plenty of cribs, infant swings, and age-appropriate toys to satisfy every need. To ensure the safety and comfort of our babies, we staff this room with one volunteer for every two children.
THE WALKERS
It's an exciting day when our babies are able to walk and are promoted to The Walkers room. There they are delighted to find a large area to roam and an abundance of toys ideal for their developmental stage. Their room is also stocked with rocking chairs for those who just need to be held. Children at this age enjoy a snack during their stay.
Staffing - Our nursery is staffed by parents who have children in this area as well as many other wonderful volunteers who enjoy spending time with babies. Parents are expected to serve one service per month.
Health and Security - Your child's safety is a priority to us. We run background checks on all of our volunteers. We use the "buddy system" - our volunteers never serve alone. Our paging system will notify you during the worship service if your child should need you. For the health of all of our children we cannot accept any sick child (colored mucous from the nose, fever, rash, cough, diarrhea or any signs of illness).
Nursing Mothers' Room - This special room, located off the upper lobby of the Family Center, is available for parents whose infant children are not yet ready for the nursery. Half the room, which is partitioned off for privacy, is reserved for nursing mothers only. The other half is for family members to sit with infants. You can listen and view the service from this room too.
